Finding your life potential and true nature after a trauma

What is a shock, an emotional trauma?

A situation where our nervous system has been overwhelmed by what is happening and has not been able to complete its natural process of release: mornings, accidents, intrusive medical operations, abuses, neglects, discriminations, wars, terrorism, fears - conflicts - repeated humiliations.

How does this shock or trauma manifests itself?

Depending on the support and the time elapsed, there may be immediately and/or later, or even years later:

  • Sensation of oppression, contraction

  • Dissociation (including denial)

  • Feeling of helplessness

  • Hyperactivity

  • Hypervigilance

  • Nightmares and night terrors, difficulty sleeping

  • Unstable mood, excessive emotionality (anger, rage, tears, etc.)

  • Feeling of shame, guilt

  • Panic attacks, difficulty of managing stress, anxiety, phobias

  • Avoidance behavior (situations, places, people, activities, etc.)

  • Feeling of imminent danger, fear of dying, of going crazy

  • Relationship difficulties (in loving, in committing, in educating, in being with another living being)

  • Destructive behaviors (addictions, self-mutilation, eating disorders, attraction to danger, etc.)

  • Chronic fatigue, low energy, low drive for life

  • Loss of interest in activities, hobbies, passions, dreams

  • Loss of emotional reactions (no longer feels anything)

  • Depression, feeling of isolation, detachment

  • Amnesia, memory loss

  • Disruption of the digestive, immune, endocrine systems

  • Headache, body pain (neck, back, muscle contractions)

What is Somatic Experiencing®?

A holistic approach created and developed by Dr. Peter Levine in the 1970s.

The body's natural responses are highlighted and supported so that the energy blocked in the flight, fight or freeze stage is gently discharged and released from the nervous system so that the person can regain her/his autonomy and her/his ability to face life's challenges with resilience and smoothness.

Somatic Experiencing® is
" Transforming what needs to be transformed
Releasing what needs to be released
"Finishing what is not yet finished"

Finding your life potential, reflexology & trauma
Regaining confidence after a trauma

How can it help me?

Somatic Experiencing® helps treat different types of stress, shocks or emotional traumas by encouraging you to regain confidence in your resources, by helping you taking the time you need to tame and end the discharge of frozen energy in your body and by guiding you towards a return to your autonomy.

Trauma is part of life, it should not be a life sentence.
